Monday was nothing special until after work. I went over to the best vintage store that I have ever been to – FEELS NYC- in my neighborhood to pick out a cute gift for my friend. Little did I know that they were hosting an event that right: live poetry readings! I ended up staying for hours listening to locals read their own poetry, mingling with some really cool people, and drinking all the sparkling water they had.

Here are some of the things that the amazingly unique people that I met have created/work on:

Tuesday was a day of bedazzling. I spent almost the entire day from 9-6 gluing swavorski crystals onto an undisclosed plastic item for an event. The more I worked on it, the more I thought that maybe my calling is to be a professional bedazzeler. It wasn’t until I stepped away from the toxic glue that I had been using that I realized that maybe opening up an Etsy shop to do custom bedazzling isn’t the most wise career choice.

After work I met up with a family members friends granddaughter (whew that’s a mouthful) in NoHo. We went to Vics had the most greasy & delicious crispy fried onions. I would highly recommend coming just to try that!

Wednesday morning was another workout day. I am really starting to feel envious towards my coworkers who don’t live a 50 minute journey away. I fell asleep on the way back to my apartment and ended up missing my stop – ugh.
After work, I was invited to go for dinner by one of my managers & her husband because they wanted me to meet their dog before they leave for vacation. We went to the cutest little Italian hole in the wall restaurant.
Let me just clarify something, dogs to New Yorkers are more important than children. Even though I love dogs, accepting to dog sit is a huge responsibility. I was given a two-page document on the dogs daily schedule including his favourite toys….

Thursday was Independence Day which meant that I avoided going out on the street all day. As you may know, I am quite passionate about politics so I thought that it would be best to avoid those that strongly believe in American exceptionalism . Now in retrospect I realize that it would have been quite entertaining – kind of like the circus.
To my family out there reading this – you never need to worry about me moving permanently to America.

I want to briefly explain my dog sitting experience. Every day I was to walk the dog three times, feed twice, and keep him entertained during the day (toys). Having to walk the dog three times limited the activities that I could do over the weekend. But honestly, being paid to live in a huge apartment on the UES with a dog for a weekend was basically my dream. Living in my co-living space has been driving me insane (cleanliness, roommate and no privacy) and this weekend was the perfect escape!

The whole office was given Friday off (extra long weekend) which meant that I was able to spend Friday in Central Park playing ball & reading with my sweet (temporary) dog. He is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel aka one of the most cuddly, friendly dog breeds. It was the perfect day!
Thanks for reading!
Xoxo,
Tara
