Paris: Week Three

Monday, January 20, 2020

Monday was a fun day at the office, we went to a great Indian restaurant for lunch as a team. I cannot believe how great the company and its employees are.

I brought my suitcase to work so that I could move into my new Airbnb! It is in the 6e district and only a 45 minute walk to work.

Upon arrival, I discovered that it was a lot dirtier than the pictures and on a street filled with bars. Even worse, there were no blankets, no pillows, and a heater that did not work… By the time I went to bed, I was FREEZING. I was completely unable to sleep all night, I wore all of my clothing and eventually tried to use my couch cushions as a blanket. Yay Airbnb!

Tuesday was a ROUGH day because of my lack of sleep the night before.

I had a mission for afterwork – going to a home store and buying all the necessities (that should have been there). Luckily my coworkers gave me a list of inexpensive places to check out such as a recently opened Ikea! Along with bedding and kitchen supplies, I bought myself some plants to feel settled. I went to a great asian restaurant in my neighbourhood then spent the remainder of the night scrubbing the walls of my dirty apartment. Honestly, I cannot complain… I am living in Paris.

On Wednesday we had a bi-monthly team breakfast that I prepared. I was given the requirement of providing something sweet, salty, healthy, and unhealthy. It is such a fun way to bond with the team and to get over a mid-week crash!

After work on Thursday I went to the Théâtre des Champs Elysées for a cello concert. I ADORE live music especially the cello. Something about it takes me away to another world. Luckily, the concert hall was very empty so I was able to move from my 12 euro seat (nosebleeds) to my favourite spot in a theatre (Mezzanine, on the side)!

I am in shock that this is my city. How lucky am I?

On Friday there was a metro strike so everyone in the office was allowed to work remotely! All of my meetings were kept through having video calls. On my lunch break, I walked around my neighbourhood to explore my beautiful neighbourhood.

As always thanks for reading! Please let me know if you want to see more photos or videos or more stories.

Xoxo,

Tara
