Saturday was a jam-packed day. I have realized that I am almost never at my house!
I met up with one of my (recently made) friends at the Bushwick Collective Block Party. We had a wonderful time looking at all the vendors and listening to a free concert.
Bushwick is known for a few things: Roberta’s (pizza place favoured by Beyonce and the Clintons), large gentrification and its STREET ART! Yes, even Banksy has created art on the factory walls.
We then decided to head over to Manhattan to go to a new rooftop restaurant/bar – The Lookup! We shared the most delicious veggie & dips platter that I have ever eaten, I would highly recommend coming just for this!
We went our separate ways for dinner. I had planned on cooking but upon opening my fridge I decided to buy some food from one of the nearby polish delis. I had to change plans because all my produce in the fridge FROZE. I really hope that my housing company will fix this. On the plus side, I throughly enjoyed my cabbage rolls combo dinner.
My friend found tickets for a free comedy show in Hell’s Kitchen in the basement of a bar. So back I went to Manhattan – I know poor me right? The show was both a hit and a miss. One comedian had us crying of laughter and another made us want to throw our drinks on him. Yes, comedy shows are meant to make people laugh but there is absolutely nothing funny about mocking characteristics that individuals cannot change (ESPECIALLY GENDER AND DISABILITY). We wanted to give that “comedian” a piece of our mind after the show but decided that he wasn’t worth the energy.

Sunday my roommate arrived. Let’s just say that I feel like a loud, “wild child” compared to her…
I invited her out to explore our neighbourhood and get to know her a bit. We headed over to Ridgewood for a little snack. I picked Rudy’s Bakery and Cafe (established in 1934) because of their gluten-free dessert menu (yay).
I also found an AMAZING vintage store called Feelings that is a short walk from my place – very dangerous for my wallet…
I really do love this neighbourhood, it is so diverse!
