New York: Week Eleven

Monday, July 15, 2019

I spent all day on Monday running around Manhattan delivering items and picking up items. Not intellectually simulating but it is great for explaining Manhattan and getting a bit of exercise.

Also on the plus side, I went and had my FAVOURITE lunch. It’s a Vietnamese noodle bowl from a tiny little hole in the wall restaurant on 8th ave.

Tuesday was a difficult day for me. I was given a piece of paper and told to find the exact same one, no information given other than that. I can’t even count the number of stores I went into. Once I finally found a match, I happily brought it back to the office to be told that they were wrong and they need the same weight and shine of paper but larger… Off I went again.

Because I spent so much time outside running around during the day, the second that I finished work I ran to a hair salon and cut off multiple inches of my hair.

After that I went home, got a weird dessert from my neighbourhood deli and went on the rooftop to watch the sunset.

Wednesday was a semi-normal day in the office. I was working on my computer when suddenly I was instructed to go to the MET to hand deliver something to someone important. Little “glamorous” jobs like this make me so excited, especially when I am allowed to meet a client!

After work, I discovered that a friend from Montreal was in town on business so we had a quick drink and caught up.

I was in a rush because I had purchased a ticket to the opera the Magic Flute at the Koch Theatre. Again, the tickets were cheap because I sat wayyy up high in the back (although some claim that the best sound is from those seats). The production was amazing. There were no “props” nor “backdrops” but instead a giant white wall with magical projections. The costumes were reminiscent of the silent film era. I know that it’s on a global tour so if you can, try to make it to the show!

Thursday was a normal day with one exception. My manager was going out of town for the weekend and asked me to dog sit. Now, if you know me you know that I LOVE DOGS. So living in Manhattan (away from my 17 person house, away from my roommate) and being paid to take care of a dog… is my dream come true. Also just look at his LITTLE FACE, I am obsessed with him.

Friday I was send on a fun errand to go get a cake! I was also instructed to bring back some “half-moon cookies” for the office.

I absolutely loved dog sitting. Every morning we would go on two walks, then right after work I would take him on a long walk then one more walk right before bed. After work I used ClassPass to get a discount on a reformer pilates class in the neighbourhood – fun!
