New York: Week Seven

Monday, June 17, 2019

Monday was a slow day both in and out of the office. After work I went for a walk around my neighbourhood. Honestly if I ever came back to NYC to work/live, I would pick this neighbourhood again. It is like I have my yin and yang balance – busy Manhattan and slow Ridgewood.

I went to the cutest cafe right by my house – Topos Bookstore. They have everything that I love: books, gluten-free baked goods, and cute patio seating!

Tuesday was an interesting day at work because it was my first warehouse shift! Because we create custom decor for our events, the company owns 2 warehouses to make/store our items. My day consisted of cutting out paper leaves. I cannot complain – I was being paid. We put on some good music and had a great day. We ended up being completely covered in glitter!

Wednesday morning was the workout again – the new intern is my new running buddy. It is wonderful to workout with someone with a similar fitness level because we can push each other. My new habit is to nap on the way back home from the workout (that just shows how safe NYC is). I almost always wake up drooling – Cute!

Also Wednesday was the day of my nightmares. I came within 3 feet of a NYC rat. I didn’t realize that it was running towards me until I heard a woman scream down the street. It was huge with an extremely long tail. I will not post the picture of the awful rat but if you want to have difficulty sleeping then let me know and I will send it.

Thursday was a big errand day for me. It felt like I was only in the office for 10 minutes!

After work was an intern “cocktail hour” hosted by one of the managers in the office. I cannot believe the amount of work that went into preparing this FEAST. We all had the opportunity to get to know each other in a less formal environment (while drinking bubbly).

Friday seemed to go on FOREVER. After work, I planned on meeting my boyfriend at work for dinner in Midtown. His car service ran extremely late so around 9:30-10:00pm he arrived at our Airbnb in Bed-Stuy. It was a long wait but at least I had the Airbnb hosts cat to keep me company – a little black cat named Cleo. It was too late for dinner so we ordered in some delicious (authentic) pizza.
