New York: Week Six

Monday, June 10, 2019

Monday was like any other day in the office with one exception. I was asked to deliver something to a venue in Manhattan – 10 points to whoever can guess the location of the photo below. Running errands across the city in 80% humidity is 100% worth it for little “wow” moments like this.

Tuesday was the day I was given the most intern task yet: organizing fabric samples. I have developed a new skill – the ability to keep my sanity while looking at 50 different shades of white. In case you are looking for more fascinating details about this thrilling task, I will break down the top secret process for you:

  1. label fabric (sadly no labelmaker this time)
  2. put label on fabric
  3. put velcro on back of fabric
  4. staple velcro to fabric
  5. put labelled, velcro-ed fabric on fabric wall
  6. repeat 200 times

Wednesday was another morning workout. I am honestly so surprised at how much I enjoy the sessions. I can feel myself getting stronger with every session.

After work, I went to the Brooklyn Bridge Park for one of the MET Summer Opera Series concerts. It was absolutely beautiful to listen to live singers and watch the sunset fade into a purple sky. I am so thankful for all the free music events here in New York.

Thursday was just a regular day at the office. After work, I met up with one of my friends to go to a live taping of a comedy show. The highlight of my day was buying/trying my very first dollar pizza slice.

Friday was a busy day at work so I was thankful for the weekend to begin.

First, I walked all the way from my office to the Lower East Side because I knew that I would need some form of exercise based on my dinner plans.

I then met up with some friends and we went to a nice (but crowded) rooftop called Mr. Purple (see photo below).

After that we headed over to Gnoccheria by Luzzo’s and stuffed ourselves with multiple kinds of gnocchi. We must have ordered 4 or 5 different kinds to share -my kinda women! It was so great to have some girl time with people my age!

Thanks for reading!

Xoxo,

Tara
