New York: Weekend One

Saturday was super sunny, perfect for exploring the city!

We started out by heading to the annual Brooklyn Kite Festival at Brooklyn Bridge Park. I think that we were the only non-parents there, I guess we are just kids at heart.

We then went to Central Park and spent hours walking around. We enjoyed watching all the people who didn’t know how to row flail around in the pond.

We then went to some stores so that I could buy new clothing that fit in limited dress code.

After a long day out, we went back to my neighbourhood and had dinner at Rama Thai – a 4 minute walk from my place.

Sunday was a super rainy day. Our umbrella broke while walking in the Upper East Side so we were completely drenched by the time we made it to the Guggeinheim.

After a lot of debate, we decided to go to the Guggenheim. What we didn’t realize is that the majority of the art was not on display because they were in renovations – pretty disappointing. We ended up buying an umbrella at the gift shop – yay Guggenheim!

Before the ballet we stopped in to a classic pizzeria called Famiglia!

Our big adventure of the day was going to the ballet at the David H. Koch Theatre. It was a showcase of different styles of dances such as contemporary and theatrical. We got our seats for a great price (“partially obstruced view”) and absolutely loved our vantage point. As orchaestra lovers, we enjoyed watching the musicians in the pit. At the end of the show, we both sheepishly admitted to each other that we fell asleep – how perfect!

For dinner we picked a balsamic caprese chicken recipe that we have done many times before. But this time it was a disaster because the chicken was filled with some kind of liquid and ended up being poached! I think that because of the different food quality legislation, I may be a vegetarian this summer.

Thanks for reading!

Xoxo,

Tara
